Biography

Robert Farrell Band

Robert Farrell Band’s frontman, Robert, has been called Canada’s answer to Johnny Winter, Robert Cray and Sonny Landreth but there’s no mistaking him – his wicked tone, wild, quick hands, and smooth delivery, make Robert a guitarist “genetically engineered for the 21st century”.

With drummer Andrew Lamarche and Stephen Clarke on bass, Robert Farrell Band has put out six albums since 1996 as well as releasing EPs and single tracks – continually stoking the musical fire for their fans. The power trio has performed in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis with Robert also showcasing in Nashville.  Back home, NXNE and Canadian Music Week have been stops along the way for this 3-piece who have performed on Canada AM twice and been part of CBC’s Saturday Night Blues.

Robert is already known for his double slide technique but remarkably has upped the ante by developing a groundbreaking 5-slide sleight of hand: using 4 slides on his left hand and one on his right thumb. Obviously, something to see and hear…

As the Ottawa Citizen put it, “When he (Robert) plays, you kind of wonder: how did he do that?”
